As our mini road trip was winding down, we had one last stop to make in Denmark. My friend’s mother is a travel agent, and she suggested that we stop in Ribe, the oldest town in Denmark with a Viking history. It was well worth it and I loved the old, enchanting buildings, decorative doors, and walkable streets. The town has an educational Viking Centre, and they offer walking tours for those who have more time.
Isn’t it a pretty town?
It’s very quaint!
This is great! so much to do in Denmark besides Copenhagen. I need to go back.
I love the townish feeling of it – the cute buildings, small alleys and the wooden decoration – it reminds me a bit of certain parts of Germany!
I love the architecture design. Very old and nice. It remind of of those old English movie.
The architecture is so charming. What a lovely little town!
So pretty! Love the pics…I’m curious about the trimmings decorating the door – it looks like a sun. Is it symbolic?
Andrea, Good question. To be honest, I’m not sure, but I assume it had some meaning to them. There were so many beautiful doors in Ribe but we didn’t have long so I didn’t get photographs of many of them. If I had more time, I definitely would have taken the tour offered by the Visitor’s Center- I assume they would have been able to answer this :)
I want to see Denmark so badly. Such a beautiful area.
I have been to Norway, Sweden and Iceland, but never made it to Denmark, yet its the closest destination from Holland. Heard many good things about it though, hopefully I make it to Denmark in the near future :)
