La Sagrada Familia: my favorite cathedral and also one of the top five most inspiring pieces of architecture that I’ve seen to date. Gaudi draws inspiration from nature and organic shapes which is apparent in the ‘tree canopy’ inside the cathedral. Anyone who tells you it’s not worth the entry fee is either a.) lying or b.) not an architecture fan. I found it so inspiring that I just stood in the center of the cathedral and spun circles until I could get a grasp on the overall structure. Places like this remind me why I went to school for design, and I can’t wait to post more photos. If you visit the cathedral, be sure to take the elevator ride to the top and walk down. Beautiful!
cannot agree more Laura ! I visited La Sagrada Familia in 1983 for the first time and then every now and then, whenever I could be in Barcelona. I cannot wait to be there again and enjoy this beautiful cathedral. Thanks for sharing this post and for the tip with the elevator ! Wait for more pics !
What a great photo! I have a soft spot for Barcelona and have been there 11 times at last count — but not for a long time. This makes me want to go back!
I am so sad that I wasn’t able to go in, no time! If you have more pics, will you post them??? You know I’m a huge Gaudi fan!
La Sagrada Familia is such an amazing piece of work, and I love its history.
Beautiful photo btw!
