My friend and I recently had a conversation about the future. This of course included where we were going to live. I am three months away from returning to the States, and although I have a hunch about where I’m headed, it’s still wide open. So, I’m curious to find out: If you could live anywhere in the entire world, for the rest of your life, where would it be? No, you can’t move, this isn’t temporary. You’re packing up your bags tomorrow and settling. Where will it be?
Hey Laura! Great question. I have to cheat, because I move every few months. So if I could live anywhere it would be exactly where I am right now: Wroclaw, Poland. I’ve been here for 4 months and I love this city. But I’m moving in a month before it gets too cold. :)
Toronto, Canada.
To be true I had never been there before but from what I have read it looks exacatly like what I want: cold, good people, and gorgeously big.
Wow, never move…I have a list of places actually: Buenos Aires, Barcelona, NYC, Cape Town, and Melbourne!
PS Where was that pic taken? LOVE IT!!!
Wow, and never move again? That sounds so… restricting. And impossible, since I’m 39 years old and have never lived anywhere longer than three years in my adult life.
But I guess I’d say Colorado, in the mountains.
For what it’s worth, my 7yo daughter said Hawaii. “Because that’s where Lilo and Stitch live.” :)
Definitely Venice. And yes, I would wear a cape.
Hmmm tough question Laura. Actually don’t think I can answer it … I think somewhere in Southeast Asia. But I’ve never been!!! What if I hate it? It’s close to home (Australia) though and would make my family want to come see me (not for me though, for the beaches and cheapness). Lol.
After much thought, I’m going with India. If I can’t ever leave the place I choose, I think I’d miss the energy and magic of India more than I would the easier lifestyle that may be found somewhere else.
But don’t ask me to narrow it down any further! I’d need to have the freedom to move all around the country, from the mountains to the deserts to the beaches for that to work….
Knowing what little I know now, I’d go with Scotland. Probably somewhere in the western isles.
Hmmmm…so where do you think you are headed to after this “fantastic” trip????
Haven’t found that place yet! One of the front-runners is Ometepe, Nicaragua.
Oh ya, and New York!
Thanks for all of the responses! I’m still trying to figure mine out, so until then…
Oh wow. I clicked to comment because I was so sure I had a solid answer! Now I’m between a few, I just moved away from Washington DC and I LOVED that city, so that’s definitely a top spot, but I’ve also been yearning to move to Portland, OR, because it just seems so hip and I’ve always wanted to live on the west coast. Right now I’m living in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (for at least a year) and while it’s okay, I don’t think I would make this a permanent homebase ;)
A place that is always close to my heart is Indonesia. I feel so free there, the weather is great, the food is amazing and the people friendly. The pace of life is so much slower…
Florence, Italy, or a small town nearby. I’m still trying to figure out how to make it happen and how to talk my husband into it– ha ha! In the end, I think it will be a compromise of somewhere in Europe where he would feel more comfortable, probably Spain or Portugal. I need a place with decent weather and plenty of history around, and where I can feel secure raising my kids.
I’m curious where you are considering!
