I’ve heard it a lot: Gaudi is gaudy.
I make bad puns all the time so I can’t blame ’em, but sadly, it couldn’t be further from the truth. While the highly ornate exterior of La Sagrada Familia is not to my liking, I was blown away by the interior, modeled after a forest. I also really loved the Passion facade, however this is the work of another artist. I’d love to sit down and actually write about the architectural elements, but time is not on my side here in Africa. Instead, I’m just going to post the photos and recommend that if you ever go to Barcelona, you must a.) pay to go inside La Sagrada Familia and b.) pay to go up the elevator to the top of one of the spires and wind your way down the stairs. Enjoy! This is my last post on Gaudi and Barcelona!
You captured some really great shots! I didnt get a nice stained glass window photo, and I really loved yours.
Love the shot with the streaming light reflecting on the column!
I saw La Sagrada Familar when I was 16 years old. To this day, it is the most beautiful and stunning building I have ever seen.
Really great shots! I was there 2 years ago, and I was really impressed by the La Sagrada Familia. Couldn’t believe what I was seeing when I went inside, never seen anything like it in a church. Would love to go back in a few years and see what it looks like when they finally finish it.
You got some gorgeous images of La Sagrada Familia. We just went there a few weeks ago and I have a post coming up…but seriously…I don’t think anyone’s pictures can do the place justice. It’s just so cool!
We have plans to travel to Europe in two years time and when I see pictures like these it makes me even more excited. It is great when you can get real close to the architecture and see things that you can’t appreciate from the ground.
Great photos! The outside does seem to have a bit too much going on for my taste. Love the inside of La Sagrada Familia.
